What Public Historians Can Learn from Fourth Graders

I wrote an essay for the American Association for State and Local History about doing educational programs with fourth graders and what we as public historians can learn from such experiences. Check it out here and let me know what you think!

  1. Interesting article. Good insights into the impact of the public historians on children later entering history-related fields. Just as important is that the majority who won’t go into history for a livlihood may incorporate it into their lives as citizens, legislators, jurists, and lawyers. A lot of us were inspired to grapple with the effects of history as adults by learning about history as children.
